How to do it

Multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number: 2/3 = 8/12.

17=5 35 ‾\dfrac{1}{7} = \dfrac{5}{\underline{\,35\,}}
17=1×57×5=535\dfrac{1}{7} = \dfrac{1 \times 5}{7 \times 5} = \dfrac{5}{35}1 × 5 = 5, so multiply the denominator by 5 too

Example problems

  1. 59=15‾\dfrac{5}{9} = \dfrac{15}{\underline{\qquad}}
  2. 13=‾6\dfrac{1}{3} = \dfrac{\underline{\qquad}}{6}
  3. 29=‾45\dfrac{2}{9} = \dfrac{\underline{\qquad}}{45}
