How to do it

The same rules: multiplying adds exponents, dividing subtracts them, and a power of a power multiplies them.

(4x2)12=412⋅(x2)12=2x(4x^{2})^{\dfrac{1}{2}} = 4^{\dfrac{1}{2}} \cdot (x^{2})^{\dfrac{1}{2}} = 2xraise each factor to the 1/2: the square root of 4 is 2

Example problems

  1. x56÷x35=x^{\dfrac{5}{6}} \div x^{\dfrac{3}{5}} =
  2. (x35)56=(x^{\dfrac{3}{5}})^{\dfrac{5}{6}} =
  3. x23⋅x13=x^{\dfrac{2}{3}} \cdot x^{\dfrac{1}{3}} =
  4. x53⋅x12=x^{\dfrac{5}{3}} \cdot x^{\dfrac{1}{2}} =
