How to do it

i = √−1 and i² = −1. Write √−n as i√n first, then simplify. The powers of i repeat: i, −1, −i, 1.

−3=−1⋅3=i3\sqrt{-3} = \sqrt{-1 \cdot 3} = i\sqrt{3}√−1 = i

Example problems

  1. i21=i^{21} =
  2. −108⋅−3=\sqrt{-108} \cdot \sqrt{-3} =
  3. i41=i^{41} =
  4. −9=\sqrt{-9} =
