How to do it

Put the slope and the point into y = mx + b. Solve for b.

Slope −6, through (3,−26):y=−6x−8\text{Slope }-6,\ \text{through }(3, -26):\quad y = -6x - 8
−26=(−6)(3)+b-26 = (-6)(3) + bput m = −6 and the point (3, −26) into y = mx + b
−26=−18+b-26 = -18 + b
b=−8b = -8add 18 on both sides
y=−6x−8y = -6x - 8
