For ax² + bx + c, find two numbers that multiply to a × c and add to b. Split the middle term and group.
3x2+8x+5=(3x+5)(x+1) a ×c=3×5=15;multiply to 15, add to 8:3 and 5 3x2+8x+5=3x2+3x+5x+5=3x(x+1)+5(x+1)=(3x+5)(x+1)split the middle, then group Example problems
